Soldiers under Operation Fansan Yamma successfully secured the release of 13 hostages and thwarted extremist attacks through targeted missions in Zamfara State. These actions occurred across the Anka and Kaura Namoda regions.
Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the military spokesperson, confirmed that Sector 2 personnel stationed in Bagega utilized actionable intelligence to intercept armed militants riding motorcycles near Tungan Kudaduku in Anka. Upon arrival, the troops used enhanced surveillance to outgun the attackers, causing the group to abandon their objective and flee the scene. A following sweep of the area uncovered a temporary militant camp, where five civilians were saved.
During a concurrent mission in Ungwan Rogo, located in Kaura Namoda, soldiers confronted another group of militants. Following an intense exchange of gunfire, the criminals retreated, leaving behind their hostages and two vehicles. This operation resulted in the rescue of eight additional individuals.
All 13 survivors have been turned over to the appropriate agencies for medical care and assistance. The military command emphasized that forces will maintain a strong presence to prevent criminal activity and restrict the mobility of armed groups within the region.
