The Labour Party has formally denied media reports suggesting it failed to upload its candidates for the Presidential and National Assembly elections to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal before the July 14, 2026, deadline. National Publicity Secretary Ken Eluma Asogwa described the claims as entirely false and misleading.
The party maintains that it uploaded the names of its Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates on July 10, 2026, four days ahead of the cutoff. The leadership expressed frustration that media outlets reported these claims based on anonymous sources without first verifying the information with the party.
Looking forward, the Labour Party noted that INEC will soon release the final list of validly nominated candidates for the 2027 General Elections. The party expects this official document to invalidate the rumors. Supporters have been urged to dismiss the reports, which the leadership characterized as propaganda driven by political opposition against the party’s rising influence.
