Babatunde Fashola, the former Governor of Lagos State, has firmly rejected rumors suggesting he intends to run for the Nigerian presidency. During an appearance on TVC’s Beyond The Headlines, the All Progressives Congress member clarified that his responsibilities are limited to leading his household, humorously noting he is already the president of his own home.
Fashola stated he has no desire to return to public office, expressing satisfaction with his current life. He reflected on his time in government, acknowledging he was fortunate to serve while younger and more energetic. He now enjoys a slower pace, emphasizing that he can finally prioritize his health, eat without rushing, and sleep more soundly now that the pressures of office have faded.
Despite his departure from active governance, Fashola remains involved in political circles. As a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council, he continues to provide guidance to the current administration. He carefully balances his role, noting that he maintains a distinct boundary between offering helpful intervention and engaging in political interference.
