Wike Announces Owner-Occupier Plan for New FCT Judges’ Residences

Minister Nyesom Wike stated that new housing for FCT judges will be distributed on an owner-occupier basis, pending approval from President Tinubu and the Attorney General.

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has announced that the newly commissioned judges’ quarters will be allocated on an owner-occupier basis. This arrangement remains pending final authorization from President Bola Tinubu and Attorney General Lateef Fagbemi.

The announcement occurred during the inauguration of 20 housing units for FCT High Court judges in Katampe, a project linked to the third anniversary of President Tinubu’s administration. Wike emphasized that securing the legal backing of the Attorney General is a necessary step to finalize the transition of home ownership to the judiciary.

Beyond these 20 homes, the minister committed to building additional infrastructure for the judicial branch. He noted that plans are underway to provide the FCT Chief Judge with new facilities for both High and Magistrate courts before the end of the year. Furthermore, Wike pledged that an additional 20 houses would be constructed for FCT judges before the conclusion of President Tinubu’s first term.
