Imo State ADC Denounces Assault on NDC Gathering

The African Democratic Congress has condemned a violent attack by armed thugs on an NDC meeting in Owerri, calling for law enforcement to identify the culprits and pursue justice.

The African Democratic Congress in Imo State has formally denounced a violent raid against Nigeria Democratic Congress supporters during a gathering at the Umuoyima Town Hall in Owerri Municipal on Tuesday. According to reports from the scene, a group of approximately 20 armed individuals arrived in a bus and began assaulting those present with weapons including knives and firearms.

The incident resulted in multiple injuries and significant damage to the group’s equipment. Mac-Donald Amadi, the state Publicity Secretary for the ADC, issued a statement on Wednesday calling the event unacceptable. He emphasized that politics should not lead to bloodshed and asserted that power is ultimately granted by God rather than through physical force.

The ADC representative stated that political competition should focus on development and civil discourse rather than intimidation. The party encouraged stakeholders and the youth to move away from violence and instead focus on policy-driven campaigns. Finally, the ADC requested that law enforcement authorities launch a full investigation to identify and prosecute those responsible for the attack.
