Action Alliance of Nigeria presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has formally requested a coroner’s inquest regarding the passing of Mary Habila. He asserts that funeral arrangements must be put on hold until forensic investigators finalize their review of the events leading to her demise.

He urged the appropriate authorities to ensure a comprehensive, independent investigation, which includes conducting an autopsy if required by law. Sowore specifically pointed out that Habila lost her life while present at the residence of David Umahi, the Minister of Works under the Tinubu administration.
Sowore alleged that the state of the body, characterized by blood discharge from the mouth, implies that the death was not natural. He is pressing for a full legal and forensic resolution before the family proceeds with interment.
