Governor Dauda Lawal has officially opened a $200 million lithium processing and mining complex located in Boko, within the Zurmi Local Government Area. This initiative is projected to provide employment for 2,000 residents and serves as a pillar for the state’s economic revitalization.
According to a statement released in Gusau by spokesperson Sulaiman Idris, the Governor views the plant as the start of a new chapter for Zamfara focused on industrial growth and economic diversification. Lawal emphasized that his administration intends to shift the solid minerals sector away from unregulated, informal practices toward a more transparent and structured industry that serves the public interest.
The Governor highlighted the rising international demand for lithium, a critical component in electric vehicles, renewable energy, and various modern technologies. He specifically acknowledged the contributions of investing partners, including Zam Mining Company Ltd, Bima Mines Ltd, Jinlide Mining Co. Ltd, Bevo Mines Ltd, and Generalised Mining Company Ltd. By investing in this project, these firms demonstrate that Zamfara is a viable destination for legitimate business ventures and sustainable development.
