NDC Supports Governor Makinde’s Request for UN Inquiry into Oriire School Kidnapping

The Nigeria Democratic Congress has aligned with Governor Seyi Makinde’s push for a United Nations investigation into the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire, citing the need for transparency and accountability.

The Nigeria Democratic Congress has formally expressed support for Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s proposal for an independent United Nations investigation into the recent school kidnapping in Oriire. Party spokesperson Osa Director noted that an international inquiry is necessary to guarantee transparency, hold responsible parties accountable, and provide justice to the affected families.

According to the NDC, this initiative transcends political motivations and focuses on establishing a credible, objective process that the public can rely upon. The party emphasized that the protection of students should remain above partisan disputes. They have urged the Federal Government to welcome any legitimate assistance that helps uncover the truth and bolsters national security efforts.

Governor Makinde initially proposed the UN-led inquiry to ensure that the facts of the case are verified without bias. This incident has sparked national alarm and renewed demands for more robust security measures to safeguard schools across the country.
