Abuja Court Orders Arrest of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Over Alleged Fake Investment Council

Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja has issued an arrest warrant for Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the alleged head of a non-existent government council facing fraud and forgery charges.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has authorized the arrest of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claims to lead a body known as the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council. Justice Mohammed Umar approved the warrant after the defendant failed to attend court for his arraignment on charges of fraud, forgery, and impersonation.

Police prosecutor Wisdom Madaki noted that this was the fifth time the case had stalled because the defendant was absent. While defense counsel Genesis Francis argued that his client is avoiding court due to threats against his life, Justice Umar pointed out that the defendant has appeared only once since charges were filed in November 2025.

The court has scheduled the next hearing for September 30. The case involves allegations that Adeyemi created a fictitious federal agency to solicit funds, including claims that he paid 400 million naira to the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, to secure his position. Gbajabiamila is listed as a potential witness, alongside several other government officials.

Investigations were triggered by a petition from the Chief of Staff’s office regarding the distribution of forged appointment letters. Adeyemi, whose current location is unknown, has publicly denied the charges and claims he is being targeted. He has requested the formation of an independent panel to investigate the controversy, citing fears for his safety following the death of an associate, Dolapo Babatunde Tanimola.
