Delta State police have taken eight individuals into custody, including suspected armed robbers, a gunrunner, and alleged cult members, following a series of coordinated raids. Authorities successfully confiscated four locally produced firearms, several live and spent cartridges, and a dagger.
SP Bright Edafe, the command spokesperson, confirmed that on July 14, 2026, officers assisted by a civilian anti-cult unit tracked a suspected robbery gang along the Asaba-Benin Expressway. This resulted in the detention of 29-year-old Stephen Danladi and 26-year-old Jude Christian, who were found with two homemade pistols. Subsequent inquiries led to the arrest of Jerry Egenus in Issele-Asagba for allegedly supplying weapons and receiving stolen goods. These suspects are reportedly linked to a string of robberies involving motorcycles and mobile phones in the Asaba and Okpanam regions.
In a separate incident on July 12, 2026, Oghara police stopped a silver Lexus RX330 near Oghara. During the search, they apprehended four occupants after discovering a cut-to-size firearm and ammunition.
