Suspected Fraudster Adeyemi Absent from Court for Arraignment

Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the man accused of impersonating a government official and running a fake investment council, was absent from his scheduled court hearing as police consider seeking an arrest warrant.

Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claims to be the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, failed to show up for his scheduled court appearance. Justice Mohammed Umar was set to preside over an eight-count case involving allegations of impersonation, fraud, and forgery against Adeyemi. Because he was absent, the Inspector General of Police may seek a bench warrant for his apprehension.

The charges, filed by police prosecutor Wisdom Madaki in November 2025, include testimony from several notable figures, such as Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila and various government officials. While investigators claim Adeyemi created a fictional government body, the defendant asserts he is avoiding the public due to threats against his life. He also alleges that he paid 400 million Naira to secure his appointment, a claim the Chief of Staff’s office previously prompted police to investigate.

Police reports indicate that Adeyemi allegedly used falsified seals, signatures, and government stationery to make the PFIPC appear authentic while operating out of the Federal Secretariat in Abuja. Amidst the ongoing investigation, Adeyemi continues to request an independent panel to examine the legitimacy of the council and its inclusion in the 2026 budget, citing fears for his safety following the death of an associate, Dolapo Babatunde Tanimola.
