The African Democratic Congress has officially requested that the Independent National Electoral Commission initiate legal action against Nafiu Bala, a factional leader within the party. This demand follows public statements from Bala alleging that his group successfully accessed the commission’s nomination portal to register candidates for the 2027 general elections.
Bolaji Abdullahi, acting as spokesperson for the ADC, stated that Bala is spreading misinformation and must be held accountable. The party maintains that these claims of portal access are fabricated. The commission’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi, clarified that the assertions are false and reiterated that the commission does not recognize Bala as the party’s legitimate national chairman.
In an official statement, Abdullahi emphasized that the circulation of documents claiming to show authorized access to the commission’s restricted platform constitutes a serious breach. He asserted that this is not merely a political dispute but a deliberate attempt to deceive the public. Consequently, the ADC is urging law enforcement and the electoral body to pursue a full investigation and prosecution of all individuals involved in the dissemination of these fraudulent claims.
