The African Democratic Congress (ADC) stated on Monday that the recent Court of Appeal decision regarding its internal congresses does not invalidate candidates chosen during the party’s direct primaries. This response followed an appellate court ruling concerning the formation of the party’s ward, local government, and state executive committees.
National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi addressed concerns about the ruling, asserting that it has no impact on those who secured their candidacy through direct primary elections. The ADC intends to challenge the decision, which it characterizes as legally flawed. Furthermore, the party highlighted the dissenting opinion from the presiding Justice, noting that it aligns with their own legal interpretation.
While pursuing legal recourse, the party encouraged its members to stay focused and avoid distractions. Abdullahi emphasized that the ADC is still dedicated to its political platform and aims to offer Nigerians a viable alternative, all while upholding the rule of law and constitutional requirements.
