INEC Refutes Reports of ADC Faction Accessing Nomination Portal

INEC has officially dismissed claims that an ADC faction led by Nafiu Bala successfully uploaded candidate lists to its nomination portal, citing a lack of leadership recognition.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has rejected assertions from Nafiu Bala, a factional leader within the African Democratic Congress, who claimed his group successfully submitted candidates for the 2027 general elections via the commission’s online portal.

These allegations, which gained traction across social media platforms, suggested that Bala’s group managed to bypass restrictions and upload their list of nominees. However, Victoria Eta-Messi, the Director of Voter Education and Publicity for INEC, officially refuted these statements. She emphasized that the commission does not recognize Bala as the legitimate national chairman of the ADC.

Furthermore, internal records from the INEC political parties portal contradict the faction’s claims. Official documents still designate Senator David Mark as the National Chairman and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as the National Secretary. These individuals remain the only authorized representatives for formal party submissions. The incident highlights the ongoing internal power struggle currently affecting the ADC as different factions compete for authority before the upcoming 2027 polls.
