Scottish athlete Josh Kerr is set to challenge a world record in the mile at the upcoming Diamond League event held at London Stadium this Saturday. The Olympic silver medallist and two-time world indoor champion will face a competitive group of runners, including fellow Scot and European indoor record holder Neil Gourley, as well as American talents Yared Nuguse, Hobbs Kessler, and Nathan Green.
In the 800m event, Jake Wightman will participate in a highly anticipated field alongside notable competitors such as Kenyan Olympic champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi, Canadian medallist Marco Arop, and American runner Bryce Hoppel. Wightman aims to capitalize on his recent performance in Monaco, where he narrowly trailed Wanyonyi, who set a new 1,000m world record during that race.
The women’s 800m event features Olympic winner Keely Hodgkinson and world silver medallist Georgia Hunter Bell. They will be joined by Dutch star Femke Bol, who is transitioning to this distance from the 400m hurdles. Additionally, sprint sensation Julien Alfred is confirmed for the 200m, coming off a record-breaking performance in Monaco. She will defend her London crown against top rivals, including Gabby Thomas and a strong British trio led by Dina Asher-Smith.
