Adamawa Police Arrest Man Who Climbed Power Pole to Demand President Tinubu’s Resignation
The Adamawa State Police Command rescued and arrested a young man who climbed a 33kV high tension pole in the Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area, demanding that President Bola Tinubu resign before he would come down.
On the morning of Friday, September 27, 2024, coinciding with the market day in Mayo-Belwa, the young man ascended the pole along the Yola-Jalingo highway.
The police enlisted the help of local residents, who ultimately convinced him to descend on Saturday night.
SP Suleiman Nguruje, the police spokesperson, confirmed the incident on Sunday evening, September 29, stating that the man is currently in protective custody of the Criminal Investigating Department.
“The command is going to parade the man on Monday for attempting a suicide, You know attempting to commit a suicide is a criminal offence under our constitution, so we are going to charge him to court, ” the PPRO said.
Nguruje emphasized that it is the constitutional duty of the police to protect lives and property, stating that any individual attempting to take their life will face the full wrath of the law.
