Chelsea pursue Alvaro Carreras as priority target for Xabi Alonso

Chelsea has launched a £21 million bid for Real Madrid’s Alvaro Carreras, identified by manager Xabi Alonso as the ideal replacement for the departed Marc Cucurella.

Chelsea is actively seeking a deal for Real Madrid defender Alvaro Carreras to bolster the squad for manager Xabi Alonso. The head coach is searching for a fresh left-back option following Marc Cucurella’s recent transfer to the Spanish giants.

Although Alonso preferred that Cucurella remain in west London, the Spanish international opted for a move to Santiago Bernabeu. As reported by the Spanish outlet Sport, the Blues have officially submitted a £21 million offer to secure Carreras. Alonso has reportedly urged the club’s leadership to finalize this signing, viewing the 23-year-old as the perfect successor to fill the vacancy left by Cucurella. It remains unclear if Real Madrid will sanction the departure of the defender, whose standing at the club has become less certain following Cucurella’s arrival.
