Balmoral Promotions is working on a high-profile heavyweight showdown between Anthony Joshua and rising talent Moses Itauma, potentially slated for Lagos in 2027. While no formal contracts exist, the goal is to celebrate the Nigerian heritage of both British boxers.
Former British and Commonwealth light heavyweight champion Peter Idemudia Oboh has expressed strong enthusiasm for the prospect. According to Oboh, the event, championed by Balmoral Promotions CEO Dr. Ezekiel Adamu, would serve as a landmark moment for sports in Nigeria. Oboh, who is now a pastor, noted that he hopes to be involved in the event, suggesting it could rival the legendary 1974 Rumble in the Jungle between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman.
Oboh acknowledged that significant challenges remain before such a contest could materialize. He highlighted five major obstacles, including the substantial financial investment required to host two such prominent athletes on home soil.
