Chief John Eimonye, the Och’Otukpo Odu, has mandated that all herders depart from the entire Otukpo Kingdom immediately. This order follows a violent incident on Sunday, July 12, 2026, in Nobi Village, which resulted in multiple fatalities.
A formal statement from the Otukpo District Traditional Council, signed by Secretary Chief Udeh Adole, asserts that the presence of these herders now poses a severe risk to local security. Chief Eimonye emphasized that this directive is intended to preserve life and maintain order rather than target any specific group.
The monarch voiced frustration regarding frequent attacks tied to armed herders and criticized the lack of support provided to his constituents. Chief Eimonye remains committed to protecting his ancestral lands and has urged government security forces to intervene quickly to prevent further violence.
