PDP Councilorship Candidate and Brother Killed by Gunmen in Kaduna
Gunmen have killed the Peoples Democratic Party’s councilorship candidate in Pari Ward, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Raymond Timothy Adai, along with his brother, James Timothy.
A PDP chieftain, Barnabas Chawai, reported that the brothers were shot dead on the evening of September 29, 2024, while returning on a motorcycle from a political campaign in Kizachi Village.
Chawai suggested the killings might be politically motivated and urged security agencies to take action to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
“Drastic measures need to be put in place to forestall further occurrence as we approach the October 19 local government poll,” he said.
John Wanneh, the Secretary to the Village Head of Kizachi, confirmed the incident, stating they were together around 6 PM and parted ways so the victim could return home to Bakin-Kogi.
“It was not more than 10 to 15 minutes when we parted ways that we heard gunshots around some guinea corn farms,” he said.
“Honestly, we cannot be able to say who are those that committed this crime or say the k!lling was connected to politics or not.”
He appealed to the government to construct a bridge and road to ensure easier accessibility during emergencies.
“Security operatives cannot enter the village now because of the bad nature of the road and there’s a river which they cannot cross, that has been our situation for long,” Wanneh lamented.
