The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially completed the registration process for its 471 candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections. Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, the party’s National Chairman, confirmed that all required profiles have been successfully submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal. With this task finalized, the party is now pivoting toward grassroots mobilization to secure a win.
Yilwatda shared the news on Sunday, commending party members and leadership for meeting the deadline for Presidential, Vice Presidential, Senate, and House of Representatives slots. The APC had already secured the nominations of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, with forms presented by Ibrahim Masari. During the submission event, Yilwatda dismissed concerns regarding opposition influence, noting that the party maintains a strong base of 12 million members.
While the APC finished early, INEC recently extended its submission deadline from July 11 to July 14, 2026. This adjustment followed a request from the Inter-Party Advisory Council to accommodate other political organizations. INEC Commissioner Mohammed Kudu Haruna stated that this extension is intended to foster a more inclusive election process.
