The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended 48-year-old commercial motorcyclist Onyechere Daniel Chinadufor for trafficking 100 wraps of methamphetamine. He was taken into custody at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos after arriving on an Ethiopian Airways flight from Madagascar. Authorities found 87 wraps hidden in his backpack and another 13 were excreted while he was under observation. Chinadufor admitted he was recruited by a contact in Uganda and swallowed the drugs before being turned away by immigration in Madagascar.
In a separate operation at the Apapa Port in Lagos, the agency seized 8,287 bags of Canadian Loud cannabis. This massive shipment, weighing over 4,100 kilogrammes and valued at roughly N10.3 billion, arrived from Montreal, Canada, and was detected following an intelligence-led operation on July 10, 2026.
Additionally, NDLEA officers arrested a 38-year-old South African woman, Will Jessica Ann, at the Abuja airport. She was caught with 5.75 kilogrammes of heroin hidden in her luggage after arriving on a Qatar Airways flight from Doha. Investigators suspect she is linked to an international trafficking network. Another seizure involved 2.5 kilogrammes of skunk intercepted at a Lagos courier firm, destined for Cyprus hidden inside a gas compressor.
NDLEA Chairman, Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), praised the various units involved for their successes. Beyond enforcement, the agency continues its nationwide War Against Drug Abuse awareness program in schools and government offices.
