The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) is requesting that citizens provide reliable and prompt information to security forces to bolster efforts against terrorism and various criminal activities nationwide. Afolabi Babawale, the National Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, conveyed this message in an official statement.
Commandant General Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi issued the appeal while honoring the joint task force that secured the release of 44 kidnapped students and educators in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. These individuals, who were seized on May 15, 2026, were freed following an intelligence-driven mission involving the National Counter Terrorism Centre, the military, the police, the Department of State Services, the National Intelligence Agency, and the NSCDC.
The operation underscored the power of agency cooperation and the government’s pledge to defend schools and maintain public safety. Prof. Audi praised the bravery of the personnel involved, stating that the NSCDC remains dedicated to guarding essential national infrastructure through intelligence, strategic staffing, and community involvement. He emphasized that maintaining national security is a shared duty, encouraging the public to assist authorities in tracking down criminals.
