Chidera Okorie, a 22-year-old, has been taken into custody by the Abia State Police Command on charges of using a replica firearm to steal from local residents. The arrest occurred in Obinolu Ngodo Isuochi, located within the Umunneochi Local Government Area.
According to DSP Maureen Chinaka, the command’s spokesperson, police officers from the Isuochi Division utilized specific intelligence on July 5, 2026, to locate and detain the suspect. Officials noted that Okorie frequently used a stainless steel lighter modeled to look like a pistol to intimidate people and seize their property.
Authorities recovered additional evidence during the arrest. The police are continuing their investigation and intend to present the suspect in court once the process is complete. The public is encouraged to contact the nearest station or use emergency hotlines to report suspicious activity.
