Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo expressed satisfaction with the high level of voter participation during Saturday’s local government elections. Independent observers monitoring the process noted that voting proceeded in a calm and disciplined manner throughout the state.
After casting his ballot at Udomi Primary School in Esan Central at 10:40 a.m., the governor highlighted the early start and the effective presence of security and electoral staff. Speaking with the press, Okpebholo emphasized that the strong turnout proves citizens are deeply invested in local governance and grassroots democracy.
The governor noted that he had received positive reports from other regions confirming a smooth voting process. He encouraged residents to maintain their peaceful behavior until the official results are announced by the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC), stating his confidence that a clear winner would emerge by the end of the day.
