President Bola Tinubu has firmly committed to restoring the functionality of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) refineries. During a discussion with the leadership of the Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the President clarified that restarting operations is merely the first step.
He emphasized that a refinery’s true success is measured by its profitability and the economic value it creates for the nation, rather than just the visible activity of its smoke stacks. Addressing the transition of power, President Tinubu stated that he has taken ownership of all assets and liabilities inherited from previous administrations.
Acknowledging the weight of these economic challenges, he declared it his duty as President to ensure these facilities operate efficiently to benefit the Nigerian public. He remains resolute in his intention to fix the infrastructure and improve the overall productivity of the sector.
