Nigeria’s U-17 women’s football team head coach, Akeem Busari, has expressed firm belief that his squad will successfully qualify for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. The team is set to compete against the Young Amazons of Benin in the second leg of their final qualifying match at Lomé’s Stade de Kégué this Saturday.
During their initial meeting last weekend at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne, the Flamingos secured a narrow 3-2 victory. The upcoming match presents a significant challenge, as Benin has maintained an undefeated home record throughout the qualifying process and is fighting for their first appearance in the tournament.
Despite the high stakes, Busari noted that his coaching staff has focused on strengthening the players’ psychological readiness. He emphasized that the team is accustomed to performing well in various environments and remains fully focused on achieving a win. Busari stated that the team plans to play with the correct attitude and expects to secure their spot in the World Cup.
