Adebisi Nurein Debo, the spokesperson for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship campaign in Osun State, has publicly denounced the practice of purchasing votes and any form of electoral unrest. During an appearance at the Osun State Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Guest Platform on Friday, Debo positioned the ADC as a rising political powerhouse that refuses to rely on intimidation or illegal financial transactions.
Regarding the illicit distribution of money during campaigns, Debo advised the public to accept any offered funds as part of the public’s common wealth, but stressed that they should refuse to cast their ballots for those offering the bribes. He emphasized that the ADC is committed to a peaceful democratic process and rejects any gains derived from political violence.
Debo highlighted the rapid growth of the party, noting that the ADC has transformed into a major opposition force over the past year. He advocated for the party’s candidate, Najeem Salaam, asserting that Salaam possesses a well-structured 10-point development plan. He argued that Salaam is the only candidate besides former Governor Rauf Aregbesola to present a concrete vision for the state, warning that trial-and-error leadership will only lead to further failure.
The proposed ADC platform focuses on agricultural development, worker welfare, enhanced security, and business growth without raising taxes. Debo pledged that an ADC administration would hit the ground running, aiming to deliver on 70 percent of their promises within their first three years and generate 20,000 youth jobs within their first 100 days. Furthermore, he claimed the current APC-led administration is suffering from incompetence and criticized Governor Ademola Adeleke’s political alliances.
