A speedboat accident near Hon May Rut Ngoai island in Vietnam has resulted in 15 deaths, with rescue efforts ongoing for the remaining passengers.

A tragic accident occurred off the coast of southern Vietnam when a speedboat carrying Indian tourists overturned in turbulent waters. Local reports confirm that 15 people lost their lives in the incident, which took place on Saturday near Hon May Rut Ngoai island.

The vessel was transporting 32 Indian nationals and a crew of four when it capsized roughly 400 meters from the shore. Nearby tourist boats rushed to the scene to assist, successfully rescuing 21 individuals. Officials, including Nguyen Tien Hai, indicated that strong winds and rough waves likely contributed to the vessel overturning. Rescue operations remain the primary focus, with efforts directed toward providing medical care to the survivors.

The Indian embassy in Vietnam has categorized the event as a tragedy. They have released the manifest of those on board and established emergency hotlines to support the families of the victims. Authorities continue to verify the final count of both the deceased and the rescued.
