President Bola Tinubu has voiced his relief regarding the liberation of students and teachers who were kidnapped from the Oriire community in Ogbomoso, Oyo State. The rescue mission was carried out by national security forces.
Through his media representative, Bayo Onanuga, the President lauded the diligence of the military, the police, and the Department of State Services. These agencies worked continuously for 56 days to bring the captives to safety. President Tinubu acknowledged the immense distress suffered by the victims, their relatives, and the Nigerian public during this ordeal.
The President highlighted that the operation involved intelligence-led tactics that resulted in the arrest of eight suspects and the neutralization of several criminals. He offered his condolences regarding the death of Mr. Oyedokun, who was killed by the kidnappers, and vowed that his administration would seek justice for the victims. Furthermore, President Tinubu praised the Oyo State Government for its collaboration and urged local officials to strengthen security measures at schools across the region.
