The Yobe State Police Command has launched a crackdown on unregistered vehicles, obscured license plates, and unauthorized window tinting. Authorities report that criminal groups often utilize these tactics to facilitate illegal activities, such as the transport of narcotics.
So far, law enforcement officers have impounded 67 vehicles for failing to comply with safety and registration standards. Public Relations Officer SP Dungus Abdulkarim confirmed that the operation specifically targets motorists lacking valid documentation or those using modified glass without official permits.
Police leadership emphasized that these infractions create significant security risks by allowing criminals to hide their identities. Vehicle owners are now required to display authentic plates and secure proper authorization for any window modifications. Non-compliance will result in vehicle seizure and legal prosecution.
Police Commissioner Usman Kamfani Jibrin has instructed regional commanders to continue the enforcement campaign. He mandated that all officers prioritize professionalism and refrain from extortion while conducting these checks, underscoring that the initiative is essential for boosting public safety and deterring criminal behavior.
