ADC claims APC prioritizes 2027 elections while Nigeria faces decline

The African Democratic Congress has criticized the APC for ignoring Nigeria’s ongoing security and economic crises to fixate on the 2027 elections.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has claimed that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is neglecting the country’s worsening conditions to focus exclusively on the 2027 general elections. Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary for the ADC, voiced these concerns during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today program on Thursday.

Abdullahi highlighted the severe impacts of rising insecurity and economic hardship across Nigeria. He cited reports indicating that 17 million Nigerians are facing starvation, arguing that this figure represents a humanitarian crisis that the current administration has largely ignored. He criticized President Bola Tinubu for remaining silent on these critical issues, noting that the government seems unconcerned with improving the quality of life for citizens.

According to the ADC spokesperson, the ruling party operates as though it were in the opposition, fixated entirely on the 2027 electoral cycle rather than addressing immediate crises such as kidnappings, hunger, and the rising cost of living. Abdullahi concluded by asserting that the ADC remains focused on providing a viable political alternative for the nation, emphasizing that party members are committed to addressing the problems currently facing Nigeria.
