Brentford has secured former England forward Callum Wilson on a one-year deal. The 34-year-old entered free agency after West Ham was relegated from the Premier League. This move follows the recent addition of Jaidon Anthony from Burnley.
Bees manager Keith Andrews praised the move, highlighting Wilson’s proven ability to find the back of the net and his valuable presence in the training facility. Wilson is expected to challenge Igor Thiago for playing time, though the club maintains that Thiago remains unavailable for transfer despite heavy speculation regarding high-value bids. Andrews emphasized that Wilson’s lengthy history as a top-flight goalscorer provides necessary depth and guidance for younger teammates like Thiago and Kaye Furo.
Wilson brings a wealth of experience, having previously competed for Newcastle United, Bournemouth, and West Ham. Between 2018 and 2023, he earned nine international caps for England, scoring twice and participating in the 2022 World Cup. During his final season with the Hammers, he netted seven goals in 32 matches. Reports had also connected the striker to a potential reunion with his original club, Coventry City, following their promotion.
