Two Top Aides Leave Governor Fubara to Align With Wike’s Rainbow Coalition

Two high-ranking allies of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara have defected to a political coalition led by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

Darlington Orji, who recently served as Senior Special Assistant to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and former Transport Commissioner Collins Onunwo have shifted their allegiance to the Rainbow Coalition. This political group, led by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, operates as a bipartisan force focused on supporting President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.

This political move follows a period of tension within Governor Fubara’s camp. The shift stems from earlier internal dissatisfaction, particularly surrounding the governor’s previous withdrawal from the governorship race, which allowed Kingsley Chinda to become the APC candidate. Many of the governor’s loyalists felt sidelined by these developments, viewing their efforts during the state’s recent political unrest as unappreciated.

Sharing his transition on social media, Orji posted images with his new allies and declared that he had returned home to his political family.
