Thiago Scuro, the general manager for Monaco, confirmed on Wednesday that the Ligue 1 team is open to parting ways with US forward Folarin Balogun and French winger Maghnes Akliouche. Negotiations are currently underway with Paris Saint-Germain regarding a 35 million euro transfer for the 24-year-old Akliouche, who is currently representing France at the World Cup.
Folarin Balogun, 25, tallied three goals during the competition before the United States was eliminated by Belgium in the round of 16. His participation in that knockout match followed a request from US President Donald Trump to FIFA, which resulted in the lifting of a red card suspension.
Furthermore, Scuro noted that Cameroonian midfielder Lamine Camara might also exit the club as Monaco seeks to trim its overall wage bill. Scuro emphasized that there is significant interest in these players from other organizations. He noted that while daily discussions are occurring, any transfer will only proceed if the financial terms align with the club’s expectations.
