Wimbledon title defense ends for Cash and Glasspool

Defending champions Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool were eliminated from Wimbledon in the quarter-finals after a straight-set loss to Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic.

Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool have been knocked out of Wimbledon in the quarter-finals, ending their hopes of retaining the men’s doubles title. The third seeds lost in straight sets, 6-2 7-6 (7-2), to the duo of Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic. The match lasted only 74 minutes, with Cash and Glasspool failing to convert their two break point opportunities.

Last year, Cash and Glasspool made history by becoming the first all-British pair to claim the men’s doubles title at the All England Club in nearly nine decades. Their conquerors, Arevalo and Pavic, are now pursuing a rare double after their previous success at Queen’s. Following this result, Henry Patten remains the only British player left in the doubles competition. Patten and his partner Harri Heliovaara are scheduled to play their semi-final match against Aleksandar Kovacevic and Thanasi Kokkinakis on Thursday.
