Bauchi Sets N6.5 Million Deposit for 2025 Hajj
Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has approved a minimum initial deposit of N6.5 million for the 2025 Hajj from intending pilgrims in the state.
This information was shared in a press release issued on Tuesday by Muhammad Yunusa, Information Officer at the Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.
According to the statement, collection of the deposit will begin on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.
The board explained that this amount was set due to the high cost of the 2024 Hajj, which exceeded N8 million, a result of the naira’s devaluation against the dollar.
“Imam Abdurrahman advised intending pilgrims to consider paying more than the minimum deposit of N6.5 million, up to N8 million, to facilitate easier settlement of the final fare once it is announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).”
He also reminded that all payments should be made through bank tellers, as the board does not accept cash payments.
Regarding the mode of payment, the statement disclosed: “Those who wish to perform Hajj through their local governments should obtain a customized Hajj bank teller from the Hajj Affairs Officer at their local government secretariat to make the deposit. For pilgrims under the Board’s (Bs1) category, the payment point has been moved to Jaiz Bank.”
“Intending pilgrims are therefore requested to enroll in the Hajj Saving Scheme (HSS) at Jaiz Bank.”
