Suspected roadside bomb kills three Nigerian soldiers in Borgu

Three Nigerian soldiers died and others sustained injuries when their vehicle triggered an improvised explosive device near Babanna in Niger State.

A patrol vehicle carrying Nigerian troops hit an improvised explosive device near Babanna in the Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, resulting in the deaths of three soldiers and leaving others wounded. The blast took place on Saturday morning as the soldiers traveled between Machiyan Gyada and Baturen Daji within the Dekara region following a security mission.

Journalist and security observer Bakatsine shared details of the event on social media on Sunday, noting that information was gathered from local witnesses. Currently, neither the Niger State government nor the Nigerian military has released an official response regarding the tragedy. This incident follows a series of similar roadside bombings across northern Nigeria, including recent events in Sokoto State, which have heightened fears regarding the safety of security forces operating in the region.
