Vaibhav Sooryavanshi makes historic debut in England’s T20 victory over India

Teenager Vaibhav Sooryavanshi set a new record as India’s youngest cricketer, but England secured a four-wicket victory in the second T20 thanks to Jacob Bethell’s unbeaten 76.

At just 15 years and 99 days old, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi became the youngest player to represent India in international cricket during the second T20 match at Old Trafford. He surpassed the long-standing record held by Sachin Tendulkar, who was 16 when he debuted for India in 1989. Despite his age, Sooryavanshi managed to hit two impressive sixes against Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue before being stumped by Will Jacks for 14 runs.

India finished their innings at 190-7, supported by contributions from Ishan Kishan with 49, Abhishek Sharma with 43, and Shreyas Iyer with 37. England’s bowling attack, anchored by Sam Curran’s 3-33, managed to keep the target within reach. In response, England successfully chased the total to win by four wickets. Jacob Bethell led the charge with an unbeaten 76 from 46 balls, while captain Harry Brook contributed a quick-fire 39. England now holds a 1-0 lead in the five-match series, with the next game scheduled for Tuesday at Trent Bridge.
