ADC Criticizes Kebbi State Government for Rejecting MSF Nutrition Report

The Kebbi ADC chapter has challenged the state government’s dismissal of an MSF malnutrition report, urging officials to provide transparent data instead of mere denials.

The Kebbi State branch of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has voiced strong disapproval regarding the state government’s refusal to accept a recent report from Doctors Without Borders (MSF) concerning child mortality and malnutrition rates. Abubakar Atiku Musa, the party’s Deputy Publicity Secretary, stated on Saturday that the government dismissed these findings without offering any empirical data or verified evidence to the contrary.

The opposition party argues that rather than issuing a flat denial, the state administration ought to provide transparent facts and statistics. They contend that citizens are entitled to an accurate understanding of local health conditions. The ADC suggested that if the government holds contradictory information, it should release data validated by health authorities or independent research institutions.

Highlighting the inconsistency, the ADC pointed out that Governor Nasir Idris previously praised the work of MSF and its humanitarian contributions. The party is now calling for full disclosure regarding the health budget, specifically how funds are being directed toward combatting child malnutrition. They further urged the administration to authorize an independent assessment by medical professionals to clarify the current situation. The ADC emphasized that public health should not be a matter of political debate, asserting that the safety of children must come before political agendas.
