National Security Adviser Malam Nuhu Ribadu stated that the collaborative efforts between the Federal Government and Governor Uba Sani’s administration in Kaduna are effectively countering regional insecurity. Speaking through the Director of Internal Security, Malam Sani Sani, at the graduation ceremony for the inaugural class of Armed Forest Guards, the NSA highlighted that Kaduna’s training program currently stands as the most effective nationwide.
The training curriculum for these 1,000 guards encompassed tactical weapons proficiency, physical conditioning, combat preparedness, and legal compliance. These personnel are tasked with serving as the primary line of community defense against hostile actors within forest territories. President Bola Tinubu inaugurated the Armed Forest Guard initiative on May 24, 2025, aiming to secure ungoverned spaces and protect natural resources.
Governor Uba Sani expressed gratitude for the federal support, noting significant security improvements in previously inaccessible areas like Birnin Gwari, Giwa, and Kachia. Due to this progress, the Governor has requested federal approval to train an additional 1,000 guards to further stabilize the state. He emphasized that securing these regions remains a central pillar of his governance strategy.
