President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recently highlighted the North Central region as a priority area for his administration, announcing that the federal government is currently managing 61 distinct road projects throughout the zone’s six states. The President’s remarks were delivered during the launch of the Babban-Lamba-Sharam Phase II Road rehabilitation in the Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State, where he was represented by APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda.
According to official data provided by the administration, five projects have reached completion, while 31 emergency repairs and 25 major road constructions remain ongoing. Tinubu emphasized that this scale of infrastructure investment in the region is unprecedented. These efforts form part of a broader strategy to connect all six geopolitical zones, creating a comprehensive network of transport links nationwide.
Beyond infrastructure, the President noted that his economic policies are yielding positive outcomes, citing improvements in GDP, strengthened foreign reserves, and a more favorable investment climate. These fiscal gains, he noted, have empowered states to finance their own initiatives with less reliance on debt. Minister of Works David Umahi also attended the ceremony, reinforcing the government’s commitment to delivering high-quality infrastructure to the North Central region.
