This career shift, which has gained significant visibility since 2024, is motivated by a mix of personal goals, national duty, and the promise of financial stability.
Grace Charis Bassey, formerly recognized as actress Belinda Effah, captured public attention in 2025 upon completing United States Navy boot camp. Her service also facilitated her acquisition of American citizenship, an achievement she dedicated to her late father, Naval Commander Asido Bassey Effah.
In April 2026, actor Joseph Momodu became the most recent notable figure to join these ranks by finishing his U.S. Army Basic Combat Training. Known for his roles in productions like Tinsel and The Johnsons, Momodu stated that his enlistment honors his father, who was a member of the Nigeria Police Force.
Former beauty queen and actress Princess Chineke also joined the U.S. Army after moving abroad to pursue further education. Similarly, actress and producer Mayowa Dosu, who has appeared in films such as Fears and Lastlaugh, transitioned into the service, citing the commitment to military values as a significant personal journey.
