Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has instructed the EFCC and the ICPC to supervise the allocation of subsidised fertiliser throughout the state. This move was announced by spokesperson Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on Thursday as officials initiated the delivery of 150 truckloads of agricultural inputs to farmers in all 44 local government areas.
By bringing in these oversight agencies, the Governor aims to prevent hoarding, product diversion, and other corrupt practices, ensuring that supplies reach authentic farmers. He also charged local government leaders to oversee the process with integrity and transparency, noting that the initiative intends to lower production expenses and strengthen food security.
Furthermore, Governor Yusuf cautioned that any individuals discovered mismanaging or disrupting the distribution process will be held legally accountable. He underscored that his administration remains dedicated to the ethical management of state resources, highlighting the agricultural sector as a primary pillar for the economy of Kano.
