Adeniyi Adeyemi, who identifies as the head of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), asserts he is prepared to contest accusations of document forgery and impersonation in court. During an interview on Channels Television, Adeyemi stated that he welcomes judicial scrutiny to resolve claims that he is operating a fraudulent organization.
The Presidency previously denounced the PFIPC, with spokesperson Bayo Onanuga labeling it a nonexistent entity and accusing Adeyemi of deceiving the public and government officials. In response, Adeyemi claims his appointment was legitimate and suggests the friction originated from a dispute with Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila over agency funds. He has requested that President Bola Tinubu establish an independent panel to investigate the matter.
Police investigations have led to an eight-count charge against Adeyemi, including forgery and obtaining money under false pretenses, specifically regarding the unauthorized opening of a Central Bank of Nigeria account. He is scheduled to appear at the Federal High Court in Abuja on July 27.
