Isaac Fayose, a well-known businessman, has stated that his brother, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, was instrumental in Seyi Makinde becoming the governor of Oyo State in 2019. This statement comes amidst an ongoing public feud between the two politicians.
Sharing his perspective on Facebook, Isaac Fayose claimed he was present during the private discussions that led to Makinde’s political success. He recalled specific meetings held at his Ibadan resort where strategies were formulated to secure Makinde’s position. Isaac stated, “Ayo Fayose made you governor, and I was part of those negotiations alongside individuals like Victor Enahoro.”
Isaac expressed his intention to support his brother in the current dispute. He urged Governor Makinde to apologize to Ayo Fayose, noting that the former governor feels sidelined after helping Makinde achieve power. According to Isaac, this neglect is the root cause of the current friction, with Ayo Fayose reportedly planning to challenge Makinde for the governorship in 2027.
