Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has pledged to build more robust partnerships with state legislatures. He made this promise during a meeting at the Ministry’s Abuja headquarters with a delegation from the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, headed by Delta State Speaker Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor.
Ministry spokesperson Mary Ali reported that the minister praised the speakers for their commitment to national progress. Tunji-Ojo emphasized that lasting improvements in security and public administration rely on close collaboration between state and federal authorities. He promised to review the delegation’s proposals to ensure they align with national goals and the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to improve border management and internal security.
Speaker Guwor lauded the Minister for his performance and reform-focused approach, which he credited to the trust placed in him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He highlighted that state lawmakers are uniquely positioned at the grassroots level to assist in implementing federal policies. The delegation expressed a clear intent to work with the Ministry to boost national security and provide better public services, confirming that state assemblies are prepared to support the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
