Joint Task Force South East Operation Udoka soldiers have dismantled a weapon smuggling ring that implicated two Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officers and a member of the Nigerian Correctional Service. Those taken into custody include NSCDC Assistant Superintendent II Obaji Sampson, Enugu Command Unit Armourer Superintendent Tasie Victor Nnamdi, and Correctional Assistant Superintendent Ekwueme Onyebuchi Clement.
Official reports from the Nigerian Army confirm these arrests occurred during ongoing anti-criminal operations that rely on intelligence sharing between security forces. In Cross River State, a separate joint mission with the NDLEA resulted in the detention of three individuals and the seizure of various weapons and suspected cannabis. Furthermore, military intelligence led to the capture of Friday Nnanna, an alleged member of IPOB/ESN, at a property in Enugu. Authorities recovered a significant cache of ammunition, firearms, explosives-making supplies, and vehicles during that raid. All suspects and confiscated evidence are currently being held by the military as investigations proceed. The Army maintains that it will continue collaborating with other agencies to secure the region and neutralize criminal networks.
