Suspected Thieves Murder 27-Year-Old Motorcyclist in Plateau State

Suspected thieves killed a 27-year-old motorcyclist in Plateau State, stealing his new vehicle before local troops discovered his body.

A 27-year-old commercial motorcyclist lost his life after being targeted by suspected vehicle thieves in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. The attackers reportedly killed the man and fled with his newly acquired motorcycle.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported the incident on X this Wednesday. Troops from Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), specifically from the Gyambwas sector, were notified of a body discovered between Angwan Baraya and Sagani villages on June 30. Soldiers and police officers from the Keystone Gindiri Division arrived at the scene around 6:15 am.

Upon inspection, officers found the victim sustained multiple machete wounds. Investigators recovered a mobile phone near the body, which allowed them to contact the victim’s father, Mr. Muhammadu Sheko. He identified the deceased as Haruna Muhammadu, a resident of Changal Village. It was confirmed that Haruna was a commercial rider who had recently invested in a new motorcycle, which is now missing.

The police have since released the body to the family for Islamic burial rites. Security forces are currently working to apprehend the perpetrators and have urged local residents to share any relevant information that might assist in improving regional security.
