Osun Gubernatorial Poll: INEC Secures 80 Percent of Necessary Supplies

INEC reports that 80 percent of non-sensitive election materials for the Osun State governorship race have arrived, with officials calling for media cooperation and increased public participation.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has confirmed the arrival of 80 percent of the non-sensitive equipment needed for the upcoming Osun State gubernatorial race on 15 August. Oluwatoyin Babalola, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Osun, shared this update during a media briefing at the commission’s base in Osogbo. She emphasized that preparations are proceeding smoothly and remain on track.

To ensure the security of these supplies prior to their distribution, the commission is partnering with law enforcement agencies. Babalola addressed worries regarding low voter turnout by calling on community leaders, religious figures, political groups, and civil society members to promote active participation in the election. She also requested that the press maintain neutrality, urging journalists to provide objective and reliable reporting to avoid escalating tensions throughout the electoral period.
